MD STATE INSPECTION

Maryland State Inspections are to be performed by only locations that are licensed and authorized by the Maryland State Police. All of the Maryland Brooks Huff Tire & Auto Centers locations are Official State Inspection locations and are licensed with the state.

Most inspections take no more than 1 1/2 hours to complete. Some smaller vehicles may take less time where larger vehicles may take more. During this time your vehicle will be inspected for a number of factors per state regulations. If your vehicle passes its State Inspection you will be given two copies of the inspection form to take to the MVA branch office where you will be given your inspection sticker for your windshield.

If your vehicle fails inspection you can elect to have repairs made to the vehicle and have it re-inspected. If your vehicle is repaired within 30 days of the initial inspection and you have driven it less

than 1,000 miles then only the repairs will need to be re-inspected.

What a State Inspection Covers

Most passenger vehicles, those weighing under 10,000 pounds, will require the following areas to be inspected per the Maryland State Inspection Guidelines.

• Steering and Suspension systems including Wheel Alignment and CV Axles
• Wheels, Tires and Brakes Assembly
• Fuel & Exhaust systems including any Emissions Equipment
• Exterior of the vehicle including Lights, Fenders, Hood, Trunk and Bumpers.
• Windows and Mirrors both inside and outside the vehicle
• Safety equipment including Seatbelts, Drivers Seat and Door Handles & Locks
• Other mechanical related items such as Motor Mounts, the Gear Shift and Windshield Wipers
